[Menton - pale peach, Florosa - viridiflora with green streaks, Fantasy - ice-cream pink parrot]
The pale peaches and pinks of the tulips surprised me today after a few mornings of hot, zingy colours. But in fact these tulips, picked at 7.30am when it was cool and fresh, turned out to be quite in keeping with the daybecause when I got into London I saw acres of similarly coloured, uncovered flesh on show in the heat and sunshine.
I made time to go to Cox Cookies and Cake, somewhere I hadn't been before. Wow, I know sex sells, but I'd never really thought that sex could sell cakes like this. The whole thing is very tongue in cheek, very well done with design referencea to the surrounding businesses of Soho (flashing neon lights, night club interior, leather gear), and the cakes themselves areare ridiculously camp. I liked the Beef Cake and the Man Cake, but came home with a Bunny Cake and a Cherry Cake, but even these sound faintly suggestive and very un-Mary Berryish.
Not for the faint hearted. Bunny cake looks cute though! Aoife x

That cake store is fantastic!! I love the cola cake with the popping candy in there.

Thanks for all the tulips. No flowers yet here in Michigan. Just grey, grey, grey and unusually cold. All your fabulous photos give me some encouragement that we, too, will see tulips and other flowers again!
Don't worry about overdoing it! We're loving your flowers here!

Oh my - just looked at all those cakes and despite sitting in the sun looking at a sparkling sea all I really want is a walnut and golden sultana carrot cake with cream cheese frosting! I'll bet the pink tulips were gentler on the eye than the uncovered flesh! Thank you for this years' brilliant array of tulips - you've re-kindled my love affair with them and I'm longing to order for next year.

I've been enjoying your blog for awhile, and I just returned from my first trip to London. Inspired by your posts, we went to the Columbia Road Flower Market, and I bought a lovely bunch of tulips for the hotel room!
