Oh. All this time I've been imagining you in a crinoline. How disappointing! Haha.

Went round Burghley House on Friday last courtesy of the Friends of the Fitzwilliam Museum. All very wonderful and impressive throughout but the BEST THING OF ALL was that in every single room (and they have LOTS OF ROOMS!) there were enormous vases of positively Brocket-like tulips! Divine!

Hello Jane, yet more magnificent tulips - wonderful!
How many do you plant each year? And how many different types. Do you find that they survive for several years or do you plant fresh each year? Sorry for being so nosy, but I'm intrigued (and inspired!) by your daily displays!

You mean a crinoline hidden under your bag-lady wrapper? :)

We've enjoyed tip toeing through the tulips with you!

Lovely!

So beautiful. Took me back to days spent choosing favorite crayon combinations when I was small. I would very often settle on "melon" and "plum." (You'll have to take my word for it that Crayola's "melon" was much closer to a peach than, say, a cantaloupe.) Many an imaginary flower was drawn to incorporate both loves--so nice to see a dream come true.

What a marvellous crop this year! I find myself being able to identify tulips by their proper names now! I blame you :)

You are slaying me with all these beautiful tulips! Next years, I too will be picking tulips by the bucketful. You have inspired me that much. Thank you!

Quite beautiful!!!!

Inspired by your photos last year, I picked up some 'queen of the nights' for 50p per bag at homebase in January - they are blooming outside our back door and look great against the stone wall. I love the depth of that purple. Amazing.

You have a lovely life, Jane.

We've had one of the toughest winters in memory here in Alberta, so your colourful posts have really cheered me up. Thank you!

those "queen of night" tulips look as though they're made of thick, gorgeous velvet. amazing!

Gorgeous! We went to a tulip festival at the weekend and it was packed with people. It seems everyone loves tulips, I can't think of another flower that gets such an overwhelmingly positive response from people.

So glad you posted this bunch. The Queen of the Night is my favorite- included in my wedding bouquet thanks to the inspiration of seeing it on your blog years ago. I love it together with those beautiful peachy shades.

Gosh...I've just meandered down a whole page of your tulip posts and they are truly gorgeous!
Hard to pick a favourite, but I think the orangey 'Good Show' ones and the Apricot Parrot get my vote.
Trouble is they are all stunning - the depth of colour they achieve is just incredible.
Thank you for sharing,
Z xx
