  • I take all my photos with a Fujifilm FinePix F30, in natural light and without any extra equipment (except when I use a large sheet of watercolour paper to cut out direct light). I don't Photoshop or alter my photos in any way, and the only adjustment I make is when/if I crop them.

verb quilt (aka 'etre et avoir quilt')

Dscn3181_edited_1

Thomas has moved on to French adjectives just as I have finished the verb quilt above. (For those who missed the link - I have been quilting this in the evenings while helping Thomas with his French verbs). So the next quilt will be imbued with vert, rose, blanc et noir, while this one is all etre et avoir.*

The verb quilt is based on a four-piece block, with reds and blues running diagonally throughout. It's machine-pieced and hand-quilted in zig-zags across the blocks, and it's very bright and cheerful. It measures 53"/1.35m x 64"/1.62m and is the right size for a child to snuggle under in the evenings.

No-one has claimed this quilt yet, so it's nominally a family one for the time being. However, Ginger seemed pretty interested...

What a lovely quilt - such gorgeous and vibrant colours.

I love it! I think the colors really express who you are too, vibrant and exciting. What a lovely job.

A wonderful, happy quilt.
(I loved that movie, too!)

What an attractive quilt. It looks so warm and inviting. I like how it is draped over the garden bench. Sometimes on beautiful cold days I take a duvet out into the garden (along with flask, cake and cushions) and lie reading on a bench wrapped up warm and snug.

Oh, it's so pretty! Whoever does get it will be very lucky.

I would certainly claim it if I was allowed to... It's bright and beautiful.
"Etre et avoir" is a stunning film, indeed. I hope that Thomas has seen it in french!

I am petitioning to be an honourary family member so I can claim the quilt.Child-size you say? I can fold up my legs really well! I love those colours and I love those colours together. Mmmm.

Wow, wow, wow!

Lovely quilt and the picture with Ginger makes my day. Thank you for mentioning that film. I could use a good French movie right about now.

Wonderful colours in the quilt. It is really stunning.

That turned out beautifully! It is so bright and warm!

The quilt is beautiful. I had to look at it twice, too--at first glance, I thought it was a standard, checker pattern that you'd appliqued flowers on for a "scattered" look . . . and then realized that the flowers were actually one of the checker's patterns . . . but, very cool effect! Really lovely quilt.

Wow.. the colors on the quilt are so vibrant. It is beautiful. You are so creative.. I would have never thought to put those colors together. The quilt is just gorgeous.... Great job!

Oh my!! That is a gorgeous quilt! Love love love the colors - it's one of my favorite combinations :) Serious envy going on here!

Wow, that's really wonderful.
I'm completely baffled how you completed it so quickly ?

Gee, and I thought I didn't like red *or* checkerboards! This one is strikingly pretty.

A quilt for the chickens. How lovely! They'll like that in winter :)

i was admiring it while you were making it, it is beautiful. i love the fabrics - i had a close up look at them and some treasure there.

C'est tres tres jolie!

Oh stunning Jane. Just really really lovely. This quilt just shouts out at me (in a good way :) ).

Eeek! I love, love, love this quilt! The colors are beautiful - it looks so lovely. You did a wonderful job!

(The quilt's not too shabby either)

what i would give to be wrapped in such beauty right now. it's absolutely stunning.

You never cease to amaze - it took me two years to make a quilt for my mother!
