let me entertain you
An amaryllis with style and presence. H. papilio has entertained and delighted me this last week with its rich red and lime green petals. It's been sitting on my desk, putting on a bravura performance.
I'm in full ideas flow at the moment. I think there's something about a major deadline that suddenly opens up my brain. You'd expect it to make me focus more and more on the delivery of Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer in just over four weeks, but in fact I am finding that my mind is full of thoughts and plans for new projects as well as the finishing of the book. Maybe it's that little light at the end of the tunnel which is growing brighter and brighter by the day until the moment I re-emerge into the daylight, blinking and raring to start on something new.
The thing is, though, that I don't have a great deal to show for all this activity, except sheets and sheets of random jottings and a huge number of lists. Which doesn't make for very exciting blog-reading. So I hope you will understand that, for the moment, I need to let my brain fizz and entertain new thoughts, while the blog has a quiet spell.

that is the most beautiful bloom, and you've just off-set it so well with your colour changes too. nice one jane! xx

My blog suffers when my other projects are picking up speed. I look back over the past year and see a definite trend.
Your blog, on the other hand, never disappoints!

Gosh, you have been busy since I last checked in! Divine amaryllis as always. They never cease to amaze me. Isn't it funny how when you are at your most busy, inspiration strikes? I can't wait for your cook book. I am a little anxious about how I am going to afford the vast quantities of fabulous cake icing colours I may require. I nearly died of fright when I saw the price of a 5 pack of very plain colours. I am longing for a cake artist's case like your one, with colours like 'daffodil', 'hyacinth' and 'wisteria'. By the way, I have cooked up a batch of heart shaped Belgium biscuits for my students to decorate for Valentine's Day. I have some pink and red heart sprinkles that I am sure you would love! XXX Happy Valentine's Day!

I love the way you give us tantalising hints about ideas fizzing away and then say that it "doesn't make for very exciting blog reading". Yes it does: my mind is now working overtime trying to guess what you're coming up with next!

Don't forget to enjoy a bit of time out (or burn out). Happy Valentines - enjoy the birthday celebration xxx

I SO agree with you about deadlines! Somehow, the sheer urgency seems to set creative minds afire! Nice blog. Love the bright fabric, as it seems to offer a preview of spring!

I bought some Amaryllis today. I did. I can't quite believe it. I have nightmares about Amaryllis. In fact I think I even told you at the iKnit stitch and bitch day. I never thought I'd do it. And I did. Today.
