chic chocs
There are cheap chocolate buttons. And there are chic chocolate buttons. These fall into the second category and have been brightening my days quite considerably since I first discovered them a little while ago at Hotel Chocolat.
They come in their own dinky little button box and are very difficult to eat. It's not that they don't taste delicious (they do), but it's very hard to spoil the pretty arrangement and then when you do, to decide whether to go for a brass button or a leather button or a gentleman's blazer button, or just a simple two-hole button.
They are also wonderful vehicles for sorting and matching and general playing. Then eating.

Tulip for today: late double 'Lilac Perfection'. Picked in the rain and photographed immediately.
And perfectly named.

I'll miss my tulips for the next few days while I'm away. But there will be compensations.
Back next week.

The colour of those tulips is gorgeous! Perfection indeed. And as for the chocolate buttons, well in this house they wouldn't last long enough to play with - they'd be gone in about 5 minutes!

I'm so glad you left us with these delightful tulips. Loved the previous post - can see the relationship between the two - a love of colour and comfort was calling you. Have a great break.

When I was last in York they were giving free samples of the chocolate buttons. Only one each though :(
They are indeed fine buttons.

I love those dewy tulips. So pretty!! Those chocolates look delicious :o) Scattered with those green buttons, they look like they should be minty flavored!

Lovely yummy buttons - and a beautiful colour combination with the green "real" buttons. Every time you post a new tulip photo I think "no, this one is my favourite"! Just like trying to name a favourite colour : impossible - they are all beautiful.

Lovely buttons. Thank you so much for the Hotel Chocolat as they sell Gluten free chocolate! It is very hard to find and it is necessary as we now have a Celiac in the family. Thank you so much, especially from the under 8 set in the household.

Those buttons are so beautiful, they look good enough to eat. Wait! They ARE good enough to eat. What a great way to make chocolate.
I am going to be visiting England (mostly London) the end of June and am planning some jaunts out to yarn shops. Can you recommend some shops?

I'm sure there's an equally easy way to make a mould for chocolate buttons.... perhaps I'll experiment over the summer and discover how. Those would make excellent gifts.

Laughing out loud and commenting twice. I searched the web and there are several tutorials for making food-safe silicone moulds - then all you'd have to do is take baking chocolate and fill your favorite buttons! I think this is going to be wonderful gift-giving season.

I love the tulips you show on your site but I wonder if you know what the tulips I saw at Tintinhull gardens last week are called as I would love to grow some next year. Unfortunatly there was no
one around to ask when we were there! They were purple and white and there is a picture on my blog on Friday 25th April

I was in a Hotel Chocolat at the weekend, but I restrained myself from the buttons. They are fabulous, though!

The buttons are such an appropriate gift for my button-loving and collecting mom. Will definitely have to get her some!

I have no problems at all diving into boxes of those buttons (especially the dark ones!). Aren't the designs fascinating?

And just when I thought buttons couldn't get any better.

By the way, not sure if you remember me, we exchanged some emails and I told you I was going to start making things.. well I did! And I love it!! Thanks again

Yummy indeed! And I am going to look for those silicone molds Hannah mentions and experiment with choco gifting, too. Being Belgian and chocolate are a natural match after all.
I experimented with chocolate just recently (see: homeandnot.blogspot.com)
AND I have a visual gift to pass on to you. You'll need to go to: www.moroccanmaryam.typepad.com/
I am pretty sure you'll like this blog though it has nothing to do with knitting . . .
