There is nothing quite like coming across a row of painted English beach huts looking bravely jaunty on a grey, windy March day. I found such a row in Whitstable last week; this is one of the real beauties. It even has a crocheted door-knob cover. Someone loves this beach hut.
You've just given me an idea. I have a chest of drawers with really ugly knobs. Now I think they need knob berets.

Hut No.4 we love you too!!
I cannot begin to imagine how much patience it would take to paint all those neat stripes! I love the way they go wonky over the window hatches - if you stare at it long enough you get quite giddy! And I am staring... and dreaming! Wonderful! t.x

A crocheted door-knob cover? That's such a delightful little touch.

Somehow I'm not as jealous of people that own them if I feel as though they love it as much as I would.

They're the best beach hut colours I've ever seen (and I frequent north Norfolk beaches). And the crocheted door knob cover is fantastic. I regularly park next to a car when I'm parking for work. The exterior of the car is a wreck, the inside is messy and has rubbish all over it, but there's a beautifully crocheted blanket in the back seat in really gorgeous colours that somehow gives the whole thing a bohemian air. Never underestimate the power of crochet. x x x

I love beach huts, though I think if I had one it would have to be pink or blue :)

And what a hut! So reminiscent of a stick of seaside rock, oh the memories.....

Our Melbourne beach boxes do look just as jaunty but I have never seen one with a crocheted door knob cover. Suddenly I have a new idea for random acts of craft.

I didn't know people owned those! How do you get one? What do you keep inside? What are they FOR?

This post prompted me to post about my own stripy project, the Sean Scully Malabrigo afghan. There are pictures of the WIP and the Sean Scully inspiration pictures at my blog, www.redisforpassion-red.blogspot.com
Love your pictures and your eye for finding the beauty in things.

I've painted my garden hut in stripes pink, blue, green and yellow and it looks so cheerful - why don't more people to that ?
