...to 'we have roses in our sink in our pink kitchen' because, well, because I can't be bothered with any negative comments about the colour. We love it and we love living with it. Plus, it puts a rosy glow on my cheeks whenever I'm in there - much easier and cheaper than applying blusher!
Here's a Benefit/Urban Decay tester-size pic of the colour, just so you can see it's well and truly and wonderfully pink.
You utter meanie!! I saw the title and thought ... at last the kitchen reveal!! But it was to no avail although that is a lovely pink wall!

Oooh....lovely!
And my favourite colour too! x

I love it! What does everyone else in the house think?
Posted by: Dianne | October 02, 2009 at 14:42
Happy lucky pinky!

I have a red sitting room but your pink is pretty intense. We did one wall like that in our dining room but decided the space was too small and the color felt oppressive. Fun for a while, but not to live with. I'll be looking forward to seeing the rest of the space.

Oooh! Let's see a bit more x

Wow! Now that is Pink! Can't wait to see the rest of the kitchen!

Enjoy it and enjoy your lovely kitchen! So nice to have something shiny and new to play in.
Posted by: Janice | October 02, 2009 at 16:16
as far as im concerned, pink is the only colour worth liking. all those pink naysayers can just lump it!
Posted by: Tola | October 02, 2009 at 16:19
Oh I love kitchens. I'm desperate to paint mine, its a rental though and the time and money could be better spent. But my kitchen is entirely, completely white. Ugh. I want to see the pink kitchen. Maybe I want a pink kitchen. I might. I must see one. :)
Fair enough if you don't want to show it. The roses are beautiful! I want roses in my kitchen. Gosh I'm tired and easily led this morning. :)

How many coats of paint did it take to cover? I've thought about painting a room pink, but have blanched at the thought of the multiple coats required....

i was lucky to see the larger photo before you removed it. i instantly thought "i love the colour!" and was going to leave a comment and let you know of my delight, but something came up and i forgot about it. i'm glad i get the opportunity again to say: i love the colour!
Posted by: sissel | October 02, 2009 at 17:08
I love the vibrancy and life of the colors you showed us (I was lucky enough to see the large picture before you changed it to those gorgeous roses) and it made me wish that I could figure out how to make my kitchen that vibrant without overwhelming the rest of my house... very open floorplan!
Posted by: Sulwyn | October 02, 2009 at 17:18
Please don't be so upset by negative comments that you pull pictures that the rest of us haven't seen yet! (I'm assuming from the comment above that's what happened) I really really want a better glimpse of your kitchen!!
Posted by: Wendy Burfitt | October 02, 2009 at 17:19
I love the colour and would also love to see more. I imagine it would make you feel very rosy and happy being in it and it's a shame that anyone said anything negative - we could all do with some more pink in our lives, it is such a positive colour!
Posted by: Helen | October 02, 2009 at 17:32
Gorgeous! What a beautiful and fully alive color. Love it.
Posted by: Christie in Chicago | October 02, 2009 at 17:34
That is a fabulous color. Once I finally have time to sort out all of the stuff in my older son's old room, I hope to change the color from something quite dull to something quite vibrant. It will be my knitting, sewing, etc., room.

Just don't have olive green appliances. Yes, I moved into a house where the kitchen was a mixture of pink and olive green.

That pink looks amazing, would love to see more of your new kitchen. Don't take any notice of negative comments, perhaps those who made them were jealous that they didn't have the confidence to choose such a vibrant colour? We had our kitchen done last year and it's a mix of various shades of blue, not to everyone's taste but I love it and my heart sings everytime I see it!
Posted by: Judith | October 02, 2009 at 17:53
Oh, that's not sickly pastel pink, that's **PINK!!!** And it's so much better that way.
I'm testing both apple green and apple red in my kitchen -- just so hard to decide.

Oh how fantabulous, I desperately tried to persuade my husband to let me paint the kitchen walls a similar colour in our last house but he panicked at the last minute, I still hanker, really and truly hanker. I think it will feel so warm and inviting, an excellent colour choice.
Posted by: Rebecca | October 02, 2009 at 18:48
What a fantastic colour! You are never boring, Jane :D
Posted by: mindfulbeader | October 02, 2009 at 19:31
Ooooh!
Posted by: Readersguide | October 02, 2009 at 20:17
Color is so subjective (as is most things in life) so I don't understand why anyone would make a negative comment about your color choices for your home.
As long as you and your family like it, the rest of us should just keep our mouths shut!
BTW, I love your color choices.

I like it :)

Who could make a negative comment about pink? I would smile from ear to ear everytime I walked into that kitchen...a moot point though, 'cause I'd probably never leave it!
Lovely!

gorgeous!
Posted by: Amy | October 02, 2009 at 20:47
Weird. Normally I'm not really one for pink (though even if that were still the case, I certainly wouldn't make a negative comment about it) but even just that little peek looks really lovely and rich to me. Wonderful choice!
Posted by: Vaedri | October 02, 2009 at 21:05
It's hot, hotter than red. It practically pulsates with sweet heat and joie de vivre!
For what it's worth, I love it.
Posted by: Laurie | October 02, 2009 at 21:35
Wow - pinkpinkpinkpeeeeeeeenk! It's a real hot Mexican pink, by the looks of things (yes?). One of my favourite shades. We have it in our bathroom, and it makes me smile every time I go in there :-)

I live by the saying 'If you can't say something nice, say nothing at all'. I think the colour is lovely - but what matters most is that you love it and it is your kitchen after all! Can't wait to see more kitchen photos.
Posted by: Justine | October 03, 2009 at 00:55
It looks vibrant, which is a great thing for a kitchen. Yum.
Posted by: Heather | October 03, 2009 at 01:24
oh, i saw it yesterday and thought it was glorious. (wish i'd commented at the time) such an original choice, suprising but beautiful. just what one would expect from you!
Posted by: pinry | October 03, 2009 at 02:46
I think it looks great, hope we get to see another picture. Shame about the negative comments, all that matters is that you like it. I think it's a brilliant choice.

I like it, Jane. It's a lovely cake sprinkles pink.
My design senses are yearning to see more of your new pink kitchen.
Posted by: Belle | October 03, 2009 at 07:12
that's a great color! in any case I can't really imagine what would possess people to say unkind things about something so unrelated to their lives as the color of someone else's kitchen. what!? enjoy your very happy-colored space. :)
Posted by: eireann | October 03, 2009 at 09:28
Oh Gosh! Love it, now that is the colour I want my front door.. Too much.. Never! It always makes me smile :-)
Posted by: Michaela | October 03, 2009 at 10:15
I love it! Wonderfully vibrant :) At the moment I'm trying to steer my mum away from painting the sitting-room cream! Ah, to have a house of my own to fill with colour ;)
Posted by: Fiona | October 03, 2009 at 10:53
Who cares what anyone else thinks, it's your kitchen, and if you love it and it makes you happy, that's all that matters! I think it looks lovely and rosy, but would love to see more :-)

I love pink rooms (obviously). "Boo" to the naysayers! Glad you enjoyed your trip to Edinburgh - it's a lovely city. Aoife x

Jane, I think the pink is beautiful, stunning. I love pink, its my favourite colour, the brighter the better:-) Your kitchen will be truly gorgeous. I really hope you didn't think my first comment was in any way critical or negative for pink - oh, not at all. The WOW was for loving your gorgeously stunning pink so much! elaine x
Posted by: elaine | October 03, 2009 at 22:37
Wow great colour.
I am sure it will make baking even better.
The kitchen is always the best place to hang out anyway.

I LOVE the pink.
My kitchen is Poison Green. I adore it. Just left a Kaffe and Brandon talk tonight and I'm in the Diagonal Madness class with them tomorrow.
You are on my mind as I work with these two fantastic men.
As always you provide inspiration and bolstering of confidence.

Good for you! This is going to be the PERFECT background for those breathtaking cakes your family creates. :-) As well as those roses!! Brava!!!

I didn't get to this post until you'd edited it - but I love the tiny bit I can see of the colour. Please consider showing us more?
Posted by: Liz | October 04, 2009 at 10:13
I'd love to see more! That's a glorious and stunning pink that would instantly put me in a good mood if I were to enter your kitchen! I see so many people timidly painting their rooms white (because that's what all those real estate salespeople on TV tell you to do?) and I'm sure they all secretly crave more colour. It's so refreshing to see some colour on walls again!
Posted by: mathea | October 04, 2009 at 12:40
we have a cerise pink bathroom and I love it. In fact I often blend in with the walls, so much do I love hot pink. enjoy!

I have a pink kitchen as well!
It's been 4 years, and I'm still loving it!
