On any day it's quite wonderful to get a copy of a long-awaited, new book, but when it's your own new book then it something else altogether. And when it's not one but four different editions of said book, it can make your head spin like a globe when thinking about all the places in the world where the book will be available.
So here's a quick quilty trip around the world with The Gentle Art of Quilt-making. Just one thing, before we set off though, please note publication dates vary and I am not the person to ask about exact timings. The links I give here have the most up to date details but, as you know, things can change.
Below is the stunning, colourful cover for the UK edition published by Collins & Brown. This is also the front cover for the Australian edition which will be published by Penguin Books Australia.
The way to tell them apart is to look at the spine: C&B for Collins & Brown,
and, well, this is obvious.
The book (with a dehyphenated title of The Gentle Art of Quiltmaking and a very pretty cover) will also be published in the US by C&T Publishing.
And the spine is very clear about this.
Now this last one really did make me dizzy. Seeing my work translated into a different language for the first time is very exciting and, I admit, bewildering as I speak about two words of Dutch (eg tulp). But I am thrilled that the book will be available in the Netherlands, a place of which I am very fond, what with all those tulips and cheeses and fabulous skies. Plus there is a Tulip Field quilt in the book, so it's very fitting that I can now give the instructions for this in Dutch. Here is the cover of de kunst van het quilten,
and the spine with the Veltman Uitgevers logo.
And here we are, back where we started. You'll also find a quilt version of a Trip Around the World in the book. It's up to you which cover/edition/language you'd like to see it in.
And all I can say is that I love it.
That's awesome Jane!!

If I were a Borrower, I would most certainly want to snuggle up inside the papery leaves of your book and pull the enchanting cover over myself for forty winks. Exciting news Mrs B, your industrious creativity continues to enthuse and inspire. Congratulations!

Hi Jane - wonderful amazing news - I will be ordering it also, in spite of being sooooo hamfisted with anything dainty and dangerous like a needle. I am so inspired by you and your ever gorgeous stunning publications, they hover around my house for everyone to pick up and be illuminated. My three year old twinnies also request to sit and look at all the pretty colours and want to have a patchwork quilt each to read their book beneath(I have promised by the time they get married they will each have one somehow cobbled together by moi. You are my heroine and I thank the day (night!) I serendipitously tuned in to Claudia Winkleman a couple of years ago and discovered Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer.
Byeeeeeeeeeeee x

I love the UK covers of both of your Gentle Art books and am hoping to be able to buy both here in the US or have them shipped. You have inspired me to make my first quilt!
