On any day it's quite wonderful to get a copy of a long-awaited, new book, but when it's your own new book then it something else altogether. And when it's not one but four different editions of said book, it can make your head spin like a globe when thinking about all the places in the world where the book will be available.
So here's a quick quilty trip around the world with The Gentle Art of Quilt-making. Just one thing, before we set off though, please note publication dates vary and I am not the person to ask about exact timings. The links I give here have the most up to date details but, as you know, things can change.
Below is the stunning, colourful cover for the UK edition published by Collins & Brown. This is also the front cover for the Australian edition which will be published by Penguin Books Australia.
The way to tell them apart is to look at the spine: C&B for Collins & Brown,
and, well, this is obvious.
The book (with a dehyphenated title of The Gentle Art of Quiltmaking and a very pretty cover) will also be published in the US by C&T Publishing.
And the spine is very clear about this.
Now this last one really did make me dizzy. Seeing my work translated into a different language for the first time is very exciting and, I admit, bewildering as I speak about two words of Dutch (eg tulp). But I am thrilled that the book will be available in the Netherlands, a place of which I am very fond, what with all those tulips and cheeses and fabulous skies. Plus there is a Tulip Field quilt in the book, so it's very fitting that I can now give the instructions for this in Dutch. Here is the cover of de kunst van het quilten,
and the spine with the Veltman Uitgevers logo.
And here we are, back where we started. You'll also find a quilt version of a Trip Around the World in the book. It's up to you which cover/edition/language you'd like to see it in.
And all I can say is that I love it.
Many congratulations Jane - this is another great achievement of yours. Your creativity, productivity and sheer ability to make something actually happen are truly impressive. I have my copy on advance order at Amazon and hopefully it will arrive some time next week. Cannot wait! Enjoy this thrilling day.

These are just beautiful - you must be so pleased and proud, and rightly so. Congratulations! You're publishing in perfect time for the V&A's quilt exhibition which will undoubtedly trigger a new interest in quilting - we've already sold over 6,000 tickets and we don't open until next Saturday! I am definitely going to pick up a copy of your book, though I must finish my current quilt before starting any new projects!

Off to the quilting exhibition at The American Museum in Bathhampton next.A whole colourful new world!
