I've always thought how difficult it must be to be a politican and to have to nail your colours to a mast, so to speak. What if it isn't your colour? What if the yellow of the Lib Dems makes you look jaundiced? What if the red of Labour makes you look like a corpse? What if Conservative blue doesn't set off your brown eyes? These are the political colour isses that vex me.
So I have made some Election Day cakes in all the party colours I do like. I'm not sure which party would take on twelve colours, but its members would certainly brighten up posters, TV debates and the House of Commons.
(I am so excited today. We voted at 7.30am and I have bought in plenty of provisions for a long night tonight.)
Well done for voting so early! I have a large batch of brownies ready for the long night ahead!

Cakes! Lucky you...I have made a big pot of Election soup...lentil, leek with a touch of ginger. Delicious, filling and also rather virtuous. It's going to be huge fun.

I would definitely vote for a party adopting all your colours!

Good point - or if the colour that Really Suits You and You Have Lots of Clothes In is of the Party You Realy Don't Want to Win?! We're off to vote very soon.

I live on the east coast (US) and always vote first thing in the morning and then try to avoid news until the 11:00 pm news at night because it makes me crazy the way they start predicting results before the west coast polls (3 hour time difference)have even closed.

I've just lost my job because the MP I work for was defeated!!! Was good to be there at the count even though I didn't get home until 5.15am and not slept yet. Could have done with some of those gorgeous buns to keep us going!!

I desperately want that tablecloth.

I did poll-clerking and vote counting, and apart from the excitement, the overriding thing for me was fretting about the poor quality of the ribbon used in the rosettes! And mentally designing my own rosette, which would really be more of a fabric corsage!
