I've been told by my publisher that the copies of Quilt Me! have now arrived and should be sent out very soon (the same applies to the US). I know that the publication date changed from January 2nd and was put back to the 16th but I just want to say that these things are completely out of my hands, that publishers and stockists do all they can to get new books in and out as fast as they can, and that Amazon publication dates are often set months and months in advance when a listing is created and that the whole process is not an exact science.
But anyway, Quilt Me! is Quilt Me Now! It's full of quilts made from all sorts of inspirational fabrics and there's a fabric directory that covers a huge number of possibilities you may not have considered (needlepoint? tweed? cord?). There is nothing complicated in here; the designs are all simple, there are lots of strips, squares, rectangles and lengths, and once again it's the fabrics that play the leading role in the quilts. They all begin with a fabric that has shouted 'quilt me!' and I have gone from there. (And there are some very nice words from Kathy Doughty on the back cover.)
Collins & Brown have very kindly offered five copies of Quilt Me! to give away here and are happy to send the books anywhere in the world, so this is open to everyone. All you have to do to be in with a chance of receiving a copy of the book is to leave a comment below letting me know what your favourite fabric is. It doesn't have to be a fabric for quilting, just a fabric you love. And please leave your name and an email address. The comments will close on Friday 24 January at 6pm GMT.
100% cotton. Just cannot be beat. Congrats

I love homespun fabric, which is made today in mills. It comes in checks, stripes, plaids, and ikats in earthy and mellowed colors. I use it to back doll quilts as it reminds me of a small old 1930s quilt my sisters and I used when we were little.

It is so hard to choose, but I love my cotton flannel quilts on cold winter days.

I love most fabrics but silk would be tops!

I love...canvas drop cloths. The kind you buy at the home improvement store. Must be made of mostly cotton, linen, natural fibers. A bit of synthetic is ok, but not more than 20%. Yes, that seems picky, but I have my reasons. I've made furniture slip covers, pillow covers, created my own designs with fabric paints and dyes for sewing into jackets, coats, even quilts! So looking forward to getting my hands on your new book, via your generosity or an order from Amazon! Thank you!

I love texture on fabric. I don't always know how to use it, but I love embroidery, eyelet, stripes, jacquard, swiss dot. And floral, usually small floral, but occasionally larger floral. As for fiber, cotton and natural fibers.

Congratulations on your new book! I love your previous book on quilting, mostly for the trouble you went to to explain your inspiration process! My favorite fabric is shirting cotton, but I love all kinds of other fabric, too.

anything polka dot catches my eye time and again, a steady favorite for over 3 decades now... I'm not sure it qualifies as a fabric, and I'm definitely not giving a reason why, but I hope it's enough answer.

My favourite fabrics are the soft jersey fabrics, the kind that babygros are made of, I've kept loads from when my little ones were babies and I've just been inspired by the hexagon quilt you have hand sewn, I think that one may be in order for my daughter who is 3. A memory quilt for her to keep!

Fabric is like life - you can't live without it in any shape or form.

Indigo dyed cottons, dark blue, nearly black and shiny from dyestuff worked into the fabric.
And wool crêpes, as I love the drape of dresses made from that quality.
Congrats on the new book! LG, Bele

Old tweed, even from not great quality old topshop trousers. All the detail. Many congrats on another book, I still love 'Gentle Arts'. Thanks for the opportunity!

Congratulations on your new book. I love most fabrics made from natural fibers but my favourite is fabric knitted from wool.

I adore fabric and it's pretty tough to give a favourite. I suppose that if I was limited to a single supplier, I'd have to say Liberty. But I also love unbleached linen and plaids and dots and Kaffe Fassett and Kate Spain and Aneela Hooey and Moda charm packs and layer cakes and Japanese Zakka prints. Btw the book looks great!

Favourite fabric ? Just one? I am currently enjoying sewing with some beautiful Riley Blake cottons.

My current favourite fabrics are the fuchsia pinks, mustard yellows and deep heathery purple cottons that I have combined in my latest quilt. I am desperate to continue working on it but having just moved back from Australia it languishes trapped in a box and packed away in storage where it will have to remain until I can find a new home for us!
